The Basics

Where she comes from: Silent Hill
Birthday: February 19th, 1969 (Aquarius//Pisces cusp)
Age: 21
Species: Human with special hidden powers.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual with a strong preference for men. While Alessa's sexual orientation was never mentioned in Silent Hill she appears to be the type that wouldn't mind being in a romantic relationship with a man or a woman. The kicker is that Alessa has to really trust someone before she'll even consider pursuing a romantic relationship.
Occupation: Former student, the former Holy Mother of God. Later, the Destroyer.

Reputation: To the average person in Silent Hill, Alessa was the unfortunate victim of a fire that took her life. In hushed whispers she was known as the daughter of the eccentric woman named Dahlia. In school, Alessa was known as the witch, and the scary girl with too many bruises.

To members of the Holy Woman sect, and to her mother, Alessa would be the mother of God. She would be the vessel/the incubator to hold the God in, and God would cleanse the world with fire and bring forth the eternal paradise.

Appearance: Alessa’s appearance can be best described as plain, yet elegant. Her dark brown hair is either pulled into a low ponytail, or loose and straight. She never really fixes her hair up to make herself look more attractive. The color of her skin is a deathly pale rivaled only by those that are actually dead, but despite the color there are no blemishes anywhere on her skin. Alessa stands at 5'4", and is thin, but not terribly so. Her blue eyes always seem to be looking towards something unseen, and her _expressions range from troubled to deep in thought to mischievous at times.

Alessa's World

History and Legend: (Note: Anything between * * indicates something not specifically spelt out in the games, or the guidebooks, thus making them theories. If you'd like to know how I came to these conclusions, feel free to e-mail me.) The history and legends surrounding the town of Silent Hill are complex in nature. During the 15th-16th centuries the place was a sacred area used by the natives. In the late 1600s a group of settlers begin to inhabit the area that would become Silent Hill. *These settlers took note of the spiritual practices of the natives, possibly writing down the rituals performed, and the names of the Gods.* For some reason these first settlers mysteriously vanish.

The town is later resettled around 1810 as penal colony. Brookhaven Hospital is built in response to an epidemic. In 1862, Toluca Prison camp is constructed for POWs. It soon becomes Toluca Prison. In 1890 the Native resistance is all, but pretty much wiped out. Strangely at this time the residents mysteriously vanished.

*It is possible that the residents were pulled into the Otherworld.*

*1890s - early 1900s. The first birth of the God as performed by the settlers.*

In the early 1900s the town became a sight seeing area.

Legends and Myths

Basics: The town of Silent Hill is seeped with several legends. The legends of the natives are unknown, unfortunately.

At some point in Silent Hill's history *possibly from the 1890s-early 1900s* there was a time in which all people were in great despair, and they all desired a complete death. One day a man offered a serpent to the sun, and a woman offered a reed to the sun. From these two people God was born. She divided day into night. Paved the road to salvation, gave the people joy, and took endless time away from the people. She then created lesser Gods and angels to lead people into obedience unto her. Finally she set out to create Paradise, a place where people would be happy just by being there. But soon her strength ran out, and she passed away, promising to return.

The town of Silent Hill is home to a strange religion. While the religion (known simply as the Order.) is split into different sects, they all believe in one chief deity, who has several angels and gods underneath her. What they disagree about is how the chief deity should be summoned.

The Sects

The Sect of the Holy Woman: This sect believed in the resurrection of the child!God by performing the ritual of immolation on a woman with special hidden powers. By performing this ritual it is believed that the child!God will be placed inside of the womb of the woman. It is also believed that by using the sacred crest, and the holy fire, that an evil entity will descend, and make contact with the saint, thus creating a new entity.

The Sect of the Holy Mother:
This sect believed in the resurrection of the Holy Mother (God) by raising the conjurer. The conjurer is the one who will perform the 21 Sacraments for the Descent of the Holy Mother.

The Sect of Valtiel: The head priests of this cult, imitated the angel Valtiel by dressing up and acting as executioners. They worshipped Valtiel as an angel closest to God. This sect also acted as the mediators between the Sect of the Holy Woman, and the Sect of the Holy Mother.

The Divine Beings; Including the Saints

God: Also known as, The Holy Mother; The Lord of Serpents and Reeds, Creator of Paradise, Samael, and Xuchilpaba (the Crimson One). This is the chief deity worshiped by the cult of Silent Hill. She is accredited with dividing the time between day and night; and giving the people death; along with numerous other miracles. She is now 'dead' waiting to be reborn.

In the Mesoamerican language Xuchilpaba or Xuchil Paba means "Flower 'Priest'"

The Red God: Xuchilbara. Not much is known about this deity. It is believed that this deity might be the deity linked to salvation, and to the serpent offered. In the painting titled Creation, the Red God shares a similar appearance to the chief deity. Connotating perhaps that Xuchilbara was made in the same image as the chief deity.

The Yellow God: Lobsel Vith. Just like with Xuchilbara not much is known about this deity. It is believed that this deity might be linked with joy, and to the reed offered to the sun. In the painting titled "Creation", the Yellow God is seen pointing to a book.

In the Mayan language Lobsel Vith or Lob-sel Vi means "A bad vessel of flesh" or "A bad cycle of flesh

Angels//Demons

Valtiel: Is the governing angel of rebirth. He first physically appears in Silent Hill 3 as a being who follows Heather around, and rebirths her should she be killed. It is also believed that Valtiel is the Order's version of Metatron; the one closest to God.

Flauros//Hauros: A demon contained in the bronze pyramid that was first seen in SH1, and again in SH0. When contained he has the power to focus the powers of others. When released he has the power to bring forth the fires of Hell.

Samael: A red herring used by Dahlia in Silent Hill 1. Also the name of the God according to opponents of the Order.

Incubus: A nightmare demon. The God of SH1 takes on the image of the Incubus. There is also a mention of a ritual in the SHPN that talks about how when an evil entity makes contact with a saint, a new existence can be created. It is believed that this evil entity is 'the Incubus' Although it is not the same Incubus that came out of Alessa.

Pyramid Head: COMING SOON

Alizer: The only time this name appears is in the Halo of the Sun. Some believe this is the true name of the Woman in White "Alessa/Incubator" others believe it's a combination of Alessa//Cheryl//Heather. Others believe it's an anagram for 'Raziel'.

Special Abilities//Powers:

Alessa had a number of powers back in her world, but here in Asgard they've been weakened, and sometimes even eliminated.

Telekinesis: Shown in Silent Hill 1 when Alessa knocks Harry back a great distance using her mind. (Kept)

Telepathy: Shown in Silent Hill Origins. Alessa was able to dig up memories that Travis had been repressing since 1959 - 1961. She was also able to manipulate the town so it would show Travis his repressed memories. (Gone)

Astral Projection: Shown in Silent Hill Origins, and Silent Hill 1(Kept.)Radiation Manipulation: Displayed in the Cybil scenario of the Silent Hill Play Novel. She can create bullets of light and use them to severely injure, or even kill people. (Weakened)

Environmental Manipulation: Displayed in the Silent Hill Play Novel. (Gone.)

Phasing: Shown in SH0 when Alessa phases through a door. (Kept)

Death Projection: Alessa can kill someone, just by implanting the desire to kill into that person. (Lost)

Time Manipulation: (debatable) Shown in the Play Novel when Alessa Awakened, freezes time to let Harry and Cybil escape. (Gone)

Quirks: Alessa has a few quirks to character that are somewhat noticeable if you look close enough. She’s not the type to speak unless the situation calls for it, but her diary entries and writings can become wordy. She also doesn’t like to be touched, not for any personal boundaries, but the last time someone hugged her the world twisted and changed to look like a sea of fire. She also has a bit of a tendency to leave around cryptic and creepy poetry.

Personality: Alessa Gillespie appears to have two different sorts of personalities. As a whole Alessa is very curious woman with a thirst for knowledge and wisdom. She can also be playful around people she trusts when she wants to be.

Because of childhood abuse, and a certain event that happened in March of 1976, Alessa's soul had split into two, and the two halves came to inhabit two bodies. The darker side remained inside of Alessa while the happier side was born into a new baby. This new baby was eventually adopted and raised by Harry and Jodie Mason (the latter died three years later.)

Even though Alessa and Cheryl have reunited, people may notice a conflict within Alessa's soul. She can be a kind and innocent like person who will seek the approval of others. On the other hand when she feels threatened or scared she can become bitter, apathetic, and hateful.

Because of the recent reunification of the two halves both Alessa and Cheryl have received new memories. Alessa now has more memories of Harry Mason while Cheryl now has memories of Dahlia Gillespie.

Background Information:
Alessa Gillespie was born on February 19th, 1969 to a woman named Dahlia Gillespie and an unknown father. Not a lot is known about Alessa during the first five years of her life. She was raised in her mother's religion, a cult that believed in the second coming of their god who would bring about an eternal paradise.

Alessa was initially raised to become a priestess of the cult just as her mother was. At some point in time Alessa started to display certain powers. She could make objects move with her mind, but most impressive to her mother was Alessa's ability to kill a person with thought alone. Even though Alessa displayed these powers she wasn't chosen as the mother of God until later on.

Sometime in March of 1976 Alessa found an object of her mother's, a four sided bronze pyramid called the Flauros. Alessa asked what the object was, and proceeded to touch it despite her mother's warning. Alessa received a slight burn, and a warning from her mother. The object was a cage for a demon that if contained it's power would help focus Alessa's, but if released then everyone would burn in the fires of Hell. Later that day Alessa and her mother got into an argument over the use of Alessa's powers. Dahlia had requested a tiny bit of Alessa's powers for an unknown purpose. Alessa refused and told her mother that the only thing she wanted wass to be with her mother and only her mother. Upon hearing this Dahlia made a cryptic comment about a mother's womb creating life, and how she could have done something all herself. This confused and worried Alessa.

That night Alessa was burned alive as a part of the immolation ritual that would cause the God to descend down into Alessa. In an attempt to thrwart the ritual Alessa sends out an astral projection to materialize to a trucker named Travis Grady. As soon as the projection caught Travis' attention it ran off, leading Travis to the burning house and to Alessa herself. Alessa is carried out of the burning house by Travis, but the two slip into an unconscious state.

Alessa's body was eventually taken to the other church located in the Green Lion Antiques store. Meanwhile her mother had found a way to trap Alessa's will inside of the Flauros, and to break apart the Flauros hoping that Alessa would never be able to stop the cult.

Through out the events of Silent Hill Origins, Alessa proceeded to help Travis in her own weird way by digging up certain memories he had repressed deep down and bringing them to the surface. Once Travis had found all of the pieces of the Flauros and assembled it together Alessa's will/spirit was freed. Soon after being released Alessa used her power to shift Silent Hill from the misty world to the nightmare world. Soon after she lead Travis to the Green Lion Antiques shop where the cult is preparing to extract the God from Alessa.

Once Travis arrived he was knocked out and entered a dream world where he fought and killed the demon of the Flauros. Once contained Alessa was able to use the demon's power to help focus her own so she could split her soul in half and give the second half a physical form. After the creation of the new baby Alessa found a way to lead Travis out of Silent Hill, and placed the baby on the side of the road. This baby was soon after adopted by Harry Mason and his wife who named her Cheryl.

Meanwhile Dahlia Gillespie placed a pain amplification spell on Alessa. The spell would cause Alessa to seek help from her other half. For seven years Alessa endured the pain, because she didn't want to ruin what little happiness she was feeling as Cheryl. The pain soon became too much for Alessa to bear and she made one final plea to Cheryl to come and help her. On April 20th, 1983, Harry Mason and Cheryl Mason made a trip to Silent Hill. Just before arriving Alessa's spirit stepped out in front of Harry's jeep causing him to crash. At this moment Alessa and Cheryl reunited. Alessa broke free from the cult's spell and was reborn of her burns. Cheryl was restored to her natural self.

Alessa proceeded on with her plan. She would use her powers to create a giant Seal of Metatron in order to destroy the god inside of her, and would then kill herself. However, things didn't quite work out as planned. While Alessa was working on creating the Seal of Metatron; her mother was using Harry Mason in order to capture her daughter. In the end Alessa was caught by the Flauros, and taken to a place where she would finally give birth to the god.

Dahlia reunited the two halves of Alessa, causing Alessa to transform into a being known as "Alessa/Incubator" or "Alessa Awakened" And, then Dr. Kaufmann came in, and threw a bottle of Aglaophotis onto Alessa/Incubator. The red solution irritated something inside of the woman, because in mere moments a winged demon (similar to Baphomet)by the name of Incubus, ripped itself from the woman's back. Alessa/Incubator disappeared somewhere, but when the Incubus was defeated they came back. She created a new baby for Harry Mason, (the reincarnation of Alessa and Cheryl), and then she died.

Relationships: Coming Soon.

Plots: None as of now.
